The Finnish Road Authority, will be the first organisation to implement a nation wide travel time and traffic intensity monitoring system. The work has been completely outsourced as a full “design, build and run” service to a consortium in which ARS T&TT will be the technology provider and system integrator that has been contracted on 31 August 2007. The first Finnish Travel Times (FTT) system implementations start in September 2007 and before summer 2008 the complete roll-out will be completed. The technology that is used is based on innovative pattern recognition video software. The travel times will be made available to professional users and the public, allowing accurate planning of travels. The travel time information shall be distributed through a variety of media, including the Internet and Mobile phones.
